Aloha, I'm Lily Gullett

Biological Science Technician

I'm passionate about critters, planes, and disc sports. I'm currently working as a Biological Science Technician at the USDA National Wildlife Research Center field station in Hilo, Hawaii. My work involves doing invasive species research throughout the pacific on various islands. This year for work I'll be traveling to Mississippi, Guam, Oahu (for 2 whole months!), and even potentially Japan!

When I'm not working, I'm exploring the big island! I now have a surfboard, my Jeep, and a bike named BlackHawk (good bit if I fall) so the island is my oyster. I've been hiking, wave hunting, and snorkeling a few times but there's so much more to do! I went chameleon hunting multiple times now and my goodness they're NEAT! I want to check out new trails, investigate tidal pools, and go surfing! Since December of 2024 been trying to get into running with fluctuating success. The idea of running or pacing an ultramarathon has a chokehold on me even though I've never run more than 10 miles (finally broke into the double digits!). I'm signed up for the Honolulu Marathon in December which is exciting, but the fact that I get 26.2 miles to hang out with my friend Michaela is even more so! I also can't wait to volunteer at Hurt100 again.

Check out my Instagram (most reliably updated), projects, gallery, and blog to see what I'm up to!
